So, we had our second weekend of shooting Click! cancelled – again! The first was two weeks ago and the second this past weekend. For the same reason. One of our primary actors (the same actor) booked a paying gig and had to report for duty.
We got the call on Friday, at 10 pm, less than eleven hours before our shoot the next morning. Then it was a scramble to contact everyone before they went to bed – oh, who am I kidding, our cast and crew go out Friday nights and drink. It’s only me who is the dork at home reading last minute news on Game of Thrones and printing out scripts notes.
Our actor, Ken Arnold, has a small role as a prison guard in a film with Ving Rhames and James Woods, shooting right here in Maryland. He’s also had roles in two recent films, Abduction with Taylor Lautner and MIB3, with Will Smith. Great for him – nice to know we made the right casting choice (of course, he owns the studio we are using to film in, not sure how much we cast him so much as he cast us.)
So, that is par for the course in no-budget filmmaking. Improvise, adapt to the environment, Darwin, shit happens, I Ching, whatever man, we gotta roll with it.
